Stubborn pockets of fat can be frustrating, especially for people who are very close to achieving their ideal bodies. So it’s not surprising that women and men commonly turn to liposuction. Our practice in Atlanta, Georgia, offers a range of treatment options for addressing these trouble spots because we understand that each patient possesses a unique set of cosmetic needs.
When I sit down with a person who is contemplating liposuction, I describe the levels of body contouring based on the extent of each procedure and explain that candidacy depends on body type, cosmetic goals, and recovery expectations. Here are 3 of the most popular options:
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive alternative to traditional liposuction that freezes targeted fat cells (averaging 28% fat reduction) without damaging surrounding tissue. The body naturally processes fat following the comfortable and quick treatment, and results are seen within 4 months.
Lipodissolve involves a series of injections of naturally occurring compounds that break down subcutaneous fat. I typically recommend this for very small areas, and I schedule 1 to 5 treatment sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Traditional liposuction is an extremely effective surgical option (averaging 80% fat reduction) that requires small incisions in the treatment area. A fluid injection makes removing fat with a thin suctioning device easier, thereby reducing bruising and swelling. Recovery depends on the areas treated and the extent of surgery.
Regardless of the option you choose, it’s important to find a qualified specialist to help determine the best treatment plan for your exact needs. If you have any questions about these or other body contouring procedures, please feel free to leave a reply below.
