The consultation is an important time for you as well as your surgeon. This is a valuable opportunity for you to ask questions about your procedure and establish realistic expectations about what can be achieved. Our surgeons typically spend 30 to 45 minutes with each patient during the consultation, but they may spend more time with you if you have several questions or concerns. Ultimately, their goal is to make sure that you feel informed and confident about your decision for surgery, never rushed or hurried. Some things you may want to discuss with your surgeon include:
- The surgeon's credentials
- Surgical risks
- Benefits of your procedure
- Your anticipated results
- Recovery time
In order to determine if you are a good candidate for your procedure of interest, your surgeon will need to perform a complete physical evaluation. During this process he may ask you a series of questions about your previous medical history. He may also take several measurements and photos of your unique physical characteristics. Once your evaluation is complete, he will explain why surgery is or is not a good option. Your surgeon may recommend a different or additional procedure in order to reach your goals.
After your consultation, you will see our surgical coordinator for a complete financial write-up for the procedures you are interested in. She can answer any questions you have about fees or other details about your surgery. You can plan to be in our office for 1 to 1 ½ hours.
