Getting Back in Shape After Breast Augmentation

Plastic Surgery Center of the South

After breast augmentation in Atlanta, GA, women are often eager to complete their new look by getting in shape. However, it’s important to take as much recuperation time as needed before exercising. When trying to stay fit during your recovery, keep these key points in mind:

1. Exercise in moderation. Exercise has many health benefits and can actually help improve the recovery process. However, the key is to exercise correctly and gradually. Start small with light walking, and work your way back up to aerobic activity.

2. Exercise under the supervision of your physician. Communicate your fitness level with your surgeon to make sure that you don’t overexert yourself. Typically, my patients can resume their normal activities in 3 weeks and begin heavy exercise in 6 weeks.

3. Don’t stress. If you miss a few of your regular classes at the gym, it’s no big deal. Allow yourself to relax, rest and heal as much as possible. The more you do this, the sooner you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite workouts.

Fine-Tuning After Surgery

Sometimes, exercise just can’t give us the body we want, no matter how hard we try. That’s why it’s not uncommon for our Marietta plastic surgery patients to add additional non-surgical treatments such as CoolSculpting® to their fitness routines. This is an easy way to “spot treat” hard-to-tone areas, such as love handles, and sculpt beautiful body contours. There’s little to no recovery time necessary, so you can hit the gym as soon as you please.
