Teeing Off for Breast Cancer Awareness

Plastic Surgery Center of the South

As a breast reconstruction surgeon in the Atlanta area, I look forward to Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October because it provides me with an opportunity to support the cause.

On October 1, I had the honor and pleasure of participating in the annual American Cancer Society Pink Ribbon Golf Classic here in Marietta. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t exactly cooperative but it didn’t dampen the spirit of the event.

We still enjoyed our time at the beautiful Marietta City Club with great people creating awareness of breast cancer and raising funds for cancer research. The optimism of the attendees in the face of the weather was a fitting allegory for the fight against breast cancer.

Another way we can empower women in the fight against cancer is through breast reconstruction. Losing a breast can be devastating to a woman’s self-confidence. But breast reconstruction enables surgeons to help women feel that they have fully conquered cancer. I have performed many breast reconstruction procedures, and it’s so rewarding to be part of restoring a woman’s confidence, femininity, identity and even her life.

We urge you to support the American Cancer Society and the fight against breast cancer.
