Women who have recently had breast implants in Atlanta will want to get out and enjoy their new bodies with summer activities such as swimming and sunbathing. But is it safe? Read on to find out.
- Vacationing: You will definitely be able to travel and enjoy a vacation after having breast implants. Most people can resume their day-to-day routines in 2 or 3 weeks. Just be sure to get the OK from your surgeon beforehand.
- Swimming: Our Atlanta breast enhancement patients can usually swim leisurely about 3 or 4 weeks after their surgery. More competitive sports or activities should be postponed for 6 weeks or longer, depending on the individual’s rate of recovery. Although many women may feel well enough to swim after only 1 or 2 weeks, the tissue still needs additional time to heal before taking to the water.
- Sunbathing: Tanning is fine as long as your incisions and scars are covered, since ultraviolet radiation impairs healing and causes red or raised scars. However, remember that sun exposure ages the skin at a rapid rate. It may feel nice to have a golden glow, but years from now you will notice the effects! Use a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen to keep your skin healthy and beautiful.
